Authorising MTD for VAT

Authorising Making Tax Digital (MTD) in your app.

Before authorising this app for MTD for VAT, you should ensure that your business or accountancy firm has registered for MTD with HMRC. Visit the HMRC page for agents or business for more information on this process.

Once you are registered for MTD for VAT, you need to authorise Deadly Digits for MTD. To do this:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. VAT return filing
  1. Check the ‘Enable HMRC Making Tax Digital’ box
  2. Hit the ‘Authorise’ button. This will launch a GOV.UK pop-up
  1. Review this screen and then ‘Continue’
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the authorisation
You will need the government gateway login details that you used to register for MTD. You will also need the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) device you usually use when logging into HMRC services.

Once completed, the app will be authorised with HMRC for 18 months. The status field will show the date you are authorised to.
